Help for refugees from Ukraine

We stand together: The Startchance Foundation has always offered support to children and young people of all backgrounds. With the arrival of refugees from Ukraine, the foundation now also offers special learning support for them:

39 CHILDREN FROM UKRAINE IN SUPPORT

At the locations in Starnberg and Berg-Aufkirchen, several pupils from Ukraine are already being cared for. Most recently, 22 children and adolescents were receiving support in the rooms of the Starnberg grammar school and eleven children and adolescents in the rooms of the Aufkirchen primary school. In Schäftlarn, there are currently six young people. And offers are also planned at the two locations in Geretsried as soon as the need for them arises.

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT FOR THE EDUCATIONAL PATH

The participants in the Foundation’s learning support programme receive very individual support from experienced educators as well as older pupils and students who act as „coaches“. The initial aim is to make it easier for refugees to arrive.

„The basic idea is to support the refugees in everything they need on their educational path in Germany. Be it with homework or teaching questions.“

Michaela von Buchholtz, Educational Coordinator Starnberg
The focus is on learning the German language. During the learning breaks, the children and young people also have the opportunity to make social contacts – both with each other and with the other Startchance groups.

If you would like to participate, please contact the educational coordinators. We will then send you all the information.

FURTHER SUPPORT WANTED

In addition, Startchance is looking for people who speak Ukrainian or Russian and want to get involved with the foundation. Due to the current refugee movements in Ukraine, the need for teaching German as a second language has increased significantly. We are therefore looking for support in classroom teaching at the Schäftlarn, Starnberg, Berg-Aufkirchen and Geretsried locations, starting after the Easter holidays.

All locations are easily accessible by public transport. We work every Friday during school hours from 2 to 5 pm at the respective locations, with two hours of learning and one hour of playing together. There is no support during school holidays. Interested parties are welcome to apply by emailing nicolas.krieger@startchance.org.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDATION

The state-recognised Startchance Foundation provides targeted support for children and young people whose family environment cannot offer them the best possible support. This is done primarily through individual offers of tutoring, support for language courses, placement in internships as well as a wide range of cultural, musical and varied leisure activities.
